I didn't know how to get into and respond to the COVER IT LIVE chat system so I will just post a comment instead. Looking over all of the comments, I am very frustrated because people talked non-stop about being right-brained or left-brained and the pros and cons of each, but no one really tried to to solve the problem that I valued while I was reading this section. I think that the problem is that in a world where everyone is supposed to be valued as an individual companies are looking for this perfect being that is going to make them succeed. It's frustrating because we all are willing to call Americans lazy and compare our test scores to other countries like China, but we don't understand that our educational system is different. It's like a child running up to their parents and asking them whether or not they love them. What would happen if the parent said, "Yes I love you but do you see the blonde girl over there. I like her better." Is that any different than people looking for a job? People who are searching for a job want to make their resume look as good as possible. Also, seniors or juniors in high school are making their college resumes look as good as possible. Both jobs and colleges want the best of the best, but in a world where individuality should be valued, I think its pushed aside by the judgement and craving for perfection that Americans have. Or maybe I just think this way because I don't understand why this all matters. Personally, its like walking up and asking children from all over the world how they would describe "normal." Of course, they would all say a different thing, because being normal has a different meaning to everyone. We are all different, but one thing that connects all of us is that we have a brain, whether we choose to let our brain power help the world or hinder it is all up to us.
